BUSN340 students focus on the fundamental practices related to identifying, preventing, and controlling crisis situations. Students are exposed to the various stages of a crisis and the need to develop a crisis management contingency plan. The students analyze the strategies, resources needed, and the roles and responsibilities of the crisis management team.

BUSN343 students learn about the fundamentals of preparing for various emergency situations in the workplace. The course introduces students to the situations that threaten workers, customers, or the public and can disrupt or shutter operations, resulting in lost revenue and expenses. The student will learn about the tools to create a plan that addresses the potential impact of various emergencies.

The COVID-19 virus demonstrated how businesses can be affected by a crisis, whether it is local, regional, national, or global. When a crisis hits, companies may need to transition quickly to a remote environment. Functions that may need to convert to remote work include IT, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, among others. This special topics course will expose the student to planning, transitioning, and functioning in a remote environment.
