About This Program

The graduate NanoCert in Business Project Management introduces theories, concepts, and practices. You will learn how the business, outside environment, and other areas affect a project. You will also be exposed to the Project Management Institute’s talent triangle and the 10 knowledge areas from the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).

You will delve into practical applications by creating a project management plan. Your plan will include a scope statement, Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS), activity definition, resource allocation, activity duration estimation, schedule, and critical path identification.

Project risks, their effect on other project constraints and how to manage them, as well as a project’s quality requirements and processes are covered. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to practice several tools and techniques.

The courses in this program are designed to bring you closer to completion of the following degree: MBA (Master of Business Administration, Business Project Management concentration).

This course explores successful project management for business projects. Students will differentiate among projects, programs, and project portfolios and how each supports the other. A project schedule will be created and maintained to simulate a project's life cycle. Students will review the indicators for understanding project success. The course will apply theory and practical knowledge along with standard tools and techniques to drive to project success. This course requires Microsoft Project® software. The skills reviewed include analyzing a contract and statement of contract for requirements, developing a Work Breakdown Structure, and developing a project schedule to control and monitor a project. This class will introduce students to the tools and techniques to identify, control, and monitor risks and opportunities and how to plan and promote a project’s quality program.
