About This Program

The three courses in this NanoCert explore the dynamic nature of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as well as tactics to improve engagement and innovation in the workplace. You will become familiar with tools for effective communication, employee engagement, and managing diverse teams. You will learn effective approaches to biases and conflict related to diversity. In a course assignment, you will recommend strategies to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in an organization.

The courses in this NanoCert are designed to bring you closer to completion of the following degrees: BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), BA in Human Resource Management, BA in Management, and BAS in Technical Management.

What You Will Do

  1. Discover the fundamental elements and types of diversity present in the workplace
  2. Define unconscious bias
  3. Investigate barriers to building diverse and inclusive teams
  4. Explain the drivers of employee engagement and how it is related to inclusive organizational actions and behaviors
  5. Recommend inclusive strategies to maximize employee performance, creativity, and innovation

With today’s evolving workforce, managers and leaders need to understand and embrace differences in the workplace in order to reap the benefits of diversity. In this course, students learn the dynamic nature of diversity and inclusion in order to utilize the potential of diversity for greater performance and innovation. Students learn to differentiate ethnocentric and ethno-relative mindsets. In a final project, students will recommend strategies to incorporate diversity and inclusion initiatives in an organization.

Leaders attempt to create an environment that is appealing by soliciting feedback on what motivates them to stay. This course examines the field of organizational behavior and the various research strategies in areas such as personality, motivation, values, stress, leadership skills, power bases, and communication. It is designed to explore the attitudes and behavior of leaders and employees.

To minimize out-of-pocket costs, U.S. active-duty servicemembers, their spouse/dependents, National Guard members, and Reservists receive a tuition grant that caps undergraduate, master's degree, and graduate certificate tuition at $250/credit hour. In addition, a university book grant provides no-cost textbooks and ebooks for all undergraduates and military-tuition-grant-eligible master’s-level students.
