About This Program
Acquire the leadership skills needed to manage K-12 athletic departments in nontraditional settings, including charter and private schools, with an online graduate certificate in K-12 athletic administration from American Public University (APU).
APU’s online program helps you master skills in athletic program budgeting, financial management, legal issues, conflict resolution, and facilities maintenance. This program is suitable for those who currently have a master’s degree and seek additional coursework. The classes allow you to learn the latest trends and develop new skill sets in athletic program management.
Faculty include award-winning educators with decades of experience in K-12 athletic administration and educational leadership.
This graduate certificate program does not lead to state certification or licensure, nor can it be used to maintain state licensure or certification.

Admission Requirements
All APU master's degree and graduate programs require a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
In addition, the following is required for admission into this program. All documentation must be provided prior to course registration:
- Official bachelor’s transcript showing conferral of degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or a master’s transcript showing conferral of a degree
- Graduate writing sample
- Signed statement of understanding (SOU)
- Documentation of 1 year K-12 teaching experience or 1 year K-12 managerial experience in an instructional setting

Technology fee: $85 per course | $0 for active-duty military, National Guard members, and Reservists.
