At American Public University (APU), we believe that quality education shouldn't break the bank. We offer affordable tuition and special rates and/or grants for eligible students so you can focus on what matters -- your future. Employer Partnership Grants

The university partners with many employers to make education more affordable for their employees. If your employer has a partnership with the university, you may qualify for a unique tuition grant. When applying, be sure to select your employer when prompted and chat with admissions to learn more.

Everyday Heroes Grant

Emergency services professionals, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, or emergency medical services (EMS), may qualify for a 10% grant through the University's Everyday Heroes Grant. Parents, spouses, legal partners, siblings, and dependents of emergency services professionals are also eligible to use the grant.

Veteran Grant

At American Public University, we strive to ensure that a quality higher education is accessible and affordable for all – especially for those who have served. Our unwavering commitment to accessibility and affordability is delivered through a special 10% tuition grant applied to standard undergraduate and a 15% tuition grant for master's-level courses that is available to veterans and their families. Eligible family members are parents, spouses, legal partners, siblings, and dependents of veterans.

Opportunity Grant

Prospective and current APU students are eligible for the Opportunity Grant of 10% off undergraduate or master's-level tuition. This grant, which is applied automatically, supersedes all other university grants and special rates, and cannot be combined with any other special promotions. Only one can be applied per course.

Alumni Grant

The Alumni Grant is available to APUS students with a graduation application date on or after February 1, 2026, and returning for a new program. The grant provides 20% off tuition at all degree levels except doctoral and cannot be combined with any other special rates or promotions. Preferred Military Rate-eligible students may not use the Alumni Grant as they are already receiving the highest possible tuition reduction. However, those returning for a master’slevel program after February 1, 2026, will have their technology fee waived for the first two courses.

Special rates and grants will be automatically applied based on the student’s eligibility.
