This course provides an advanced study of cyber threat intelligence and its evolution from foundational cyber intelligence capabilities to its current operational and policy impact across the U.S. Intelligence and Defense communities. Serving as an introduction to cyber intelligence at the graduate level, students examine how intelligence collection, exploitation, defense, and response have transformed into an increasingly complex and AI-driven digital environment. Students explore aspects of the intelligence lifecycle, threat detection and threat modeling, and challenges to analysis and dissemination while developing the skills required to convert raw data and threat data into actionable intelligence. Emphasis is placed on intelligence analysis, including structured evaluation of cyber threats, attribution challenges, and the integration of AI-enabled tools to enhance analysis, predictive capabilities, and decision making. The course also examines how adversaries leverage advanced techniques, including AI-enabled attacks and sophisticated malware, creating new risk considerations for organizations and government agencies. Through case studies and policy analysis, students assess the legal, strategic, and operational dimensions of cyber operations. By the end of the course, students will have strengthened their understanding of cybersecurity challenges and developed the expertise to assist security and intelligence professionals identify emerging threats, evaluate vulnerabilities, and respond effectively in a rapidly evolving global environment.
