Bachelor of Arts

The online Bachelor of Arts in Business at American Public University will provide you with a solid understanding of business principles and allow you to hone your critical thinking skills.

The core curriculum includes

You will have the flexibility to apply previously earned college credits and select electives within the School of Business to meet personal interests and goals. The knowledge and skills you build through this program can be applied to business, government, military, or other professions.

This program offers the opportunity to learn from experienced faculty who have considerable managerial experience in Fortune 500 companies. You will also collaborate with fellow students by participating in online community forums.

The degree has been designed in consultation with industry business leaders.

Program Objectives

In addition to the institutional and degree level learning objectives, graduates of this program are expected to achieve these learning outcomes:

  • Discuss economic factors associated with government, business, and consumer environments and apply theoretical techniques to analyze markets.
  • Apply concepts of contract, tort, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and property law to business situations.
  • Articulate the external and internal environments of a business organization and formulate appropriate strategies in the context of competitive forces and environmental factors.
  • Collect information through the use of various data tools and apply critical thinking concepts to enhance business problem solving capabilities.
  • Practice quantitative skills necessary in business organizations through work in accounting, finance, and statistics.
  • Integrate market and marketing information into a strategic plan.
  • Explain and apply fundamental accounting and financial management operations to enhance business decision making processes.
  • Apply management, human resource, and personnel practices to organizational problem solving.

Admission Requirements

  • All APU undergraduate programs require a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED).

Ways to Save

Undergraduate Book Grant

Books are provided online at no cost if you are enrolled in undergraduate courses for credit. The undergraduate book grant is estimated to save $600 per academic semester* if you are registered as a full-time student.

Transfer Credits

Accelerate your degree completion by taking full advantage of our transfer credit options, including credit for your previous college courses, military service schools, American Council on Education (ACE) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests, and prior learning experiences.  

Employer Contributions

APU has educational partnerships with many employers and associations. Be sure to accurately enter your employer information when you complete our admissions application. Your employer might also offer a tuition reimbursement plan as one of your benefits.
