About This Program
Those seeking life coach training can discover how to develop effective coach/client relationships with a graduate certificate in life coaching from American Public University (APU).
APU’s life coach certificate online program focuses on developing cultural awareness and exploring emotional intelligence. Courses also consider a solution-focused approach, ethical issues, assessments, and partnering with clients to achieve their goals. The models and strategies explored can be applied to individuals and groups.
You will have an opportunity to practice life coaching skills live with the instructor or through recorded video role playing.
APU’s life coach training curriculum is aligned with coaching competencies. Upon successful completion, you receive the university-designated Certified Professional Coach (CPC) badge.

Admission Requirements
- All APU master's degree and graduate certificate programs require a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- This program requires applicants satisfy one of the following:
- Hold a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or hold any of the following credentials: NCC, LPC, LMHC, LPCC
- Hold a master's degree or higher in social or behavior sciences. Automatically accepted fields include business, management, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, medicine, health and wellness, education, and law.
- Be currently enrolled in a master’s degree in any of the fields listed above.

All courses in this program use Open Educational Resources (OER). These teaching, learning, and research materials are made available to you at no cost, meaning there are NO BOOK COSTS associated with earning this degree.
Technology fee: $65 per course | $0 for active-duty military, National Guard members, and Reservists.

To minimize out-of-pocket costs, U.S. active-duty servicemembers, their spouse/dependents, National Guard members, and Reservists receive a tuition grant that caps undergraduate, master's degree, and graduate certificate tuition at $250/credit hour. In addition, a university book grant provides no-cost textbooks and ebooks for all undergraduates and military-tuition-grant-eligible master’s-level students.
