Online M.Ed. in Teaching - Elementary Education (Non-Licensure Concentration)

The Master of Education in Teaching: Non-Licensure Concentration in Elementary Education program is ideal if you wish to earn a master’s degree while studying the theory and practical applications of teaching K-6 students. This non-licensure master's program will not lead to eligibility for teaching certification, and is intended for those who do not have and/or are not seeking any teacher licensure.

In this program, you will:

  • Gain skills for writing learning objectives and instructional plans for various domains of learning
  • Explore use of technology in the development of effective and systematic learning environments in the 21st century classroom
  • Examine the theoretical and applied aspects of learning, motivation, human development, assessment, and evaluation in the educational setting
  • Learn effective communication skills to interact with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Investigate best practices of classroom management
  • Take courses in elementary science, social studies, reading and writing, literature, art, math, and physical education
  • Complete 125 hours of on-site observations in an elementary school location near you

All courses other than student teaching are offered online. This West Virginia state-approved master's program is aligned with West Virginia Professional Teaching Standards (WVPTS), national content standards for elementary education, and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
