Biography - John F Chappo

John F Chappo

John Chappo received his Ph.D. in American history from The University of Southern Mississippi. While broadly trained in American history, his specialization is in early American intellectual, military, and political history, especially the nineteenth century.

While currently an adjunct faculty member with American Public University System, he also remains active in the field of education as an experiential education consultant. Dr. Chappo has served as an instructor and administrator in both the public high school and university settings, and has aided various educational institutions with their fundraising efforts through the use of capital market campaigns.

Aside from his numerous historical conference presentations, he has had his work published in professional historical journals. Having completed work on a biography of William Mahone, an American Civil War general from Virginia, that is under consideration with an academic press, he has completed his research and is beginning to write a book on Civil War Diplomacy.

Dr. Chappo is also a veteran of the United States Army where he served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in the mid 1980s. He and his infinitely better half are currently happily empty-nesters of two fine children.
