Disability Accommodations
The Disability Services Accommodations (DSA) Office is here to provide you with resources, support, and equal access to assist in your academic learning and success. In achieving this, the DSA Office collaborates with and empowers our students with documented disabilities by working together proactively to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodative measures under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and other current legislation. The DSA Office also works with university faculty and partners to foster a welcoming, engaging, and respectful community for all.
Once approved for accommodations, you will be paired with a senior academic advisor to help determine when and how to use your awarded accommodations. Academic advisors can also help to make the most of the online classroom and provide guidance while progressing through your degree.
If you need accommodations, please let us know. The DSA review process can take several weeks, so we recommend that you plan to submit your request as soon as you are admitted to a program and prior to registering for courses. If you are a current student who has been diagnosed with a disability and needs new services, please contact us as soon as possible.
Disability Accommodation Process
Step 1
To start, contact [email protected] to notify us that you have a documented disability (including a short-term disability). The list of documents the university requests will vary based on the type of disability you have, and may include medical records, test results, and a letter from your physician.
Step 2
Next, provide us with a written statement detailing how your disability impacts your ability to learn in an online college environment and what accommodations will be helpful to you. Your medical history and other sensitive information will not be shared with your instructors.
Step 3
The university's DSA officer will review the submitted documentation with the Disability Support Services Committee. You will be notified via email of the decision to grant or deny the request within 10 days of receipt of all required documentation. If you are denied services, you may appeal within 15 days of that decision by submitting the Academic Appeal Request form in your ecampus. It is located under the University Forms section of the Academic Plan & Forms menu. Please select "Other" as your appeal category and type.
Please visit the Student Handbook for more details on how to request accommodations.
