This course is a study of one of the most complex professions in secondary education – high school athletic administration. The topics include leadership and management roles in sports/athletic administration, high school sports finance and budgeting, student-athlete issues, association regulations and guidelines, and other issues focused on the array of sports disciplines, coaches, and programs at the high school level.

After successfully completing this course, students will fulfill the following Learning Objectives (LO):

LO1: Explore the role national and state associations have in providing support to athletic administrators.

LO2: Formulate Leadership philosophies.

LO3: Analyze how to manage personnel in high school athletics.

LO4: Evaluate criteria for budget development, scheduling, and organizational duties.

LO5: Critic ancillary issues such as legal issues, booster clubs, cheerleading teams, and transportation.

LO6: Assess the needs and strategies for coaches working with young athletes.
