In this course, the student will examine types of outdoor and indoor air pollutants, their sources, health effects, environmental and aesthetic effects, and methods of measurement and control. An in-depth review of the regulatory framework for air quality in the U.S. and related international treaties and agreements will be explored.

- LO-2 Compare and contrast air quality index values from one area of the county to your home.
- LO-3 Assess the lessons of the “Tragedy of the Commons” to current air quality problems.
- LO-4 Analyze the impact of air pollutants on human health and ecological systems.
- LO-5 Analyze the influence of air pollution regulations and control on the economy.
- LO-6 Assess the effectiveness of current air quality regulations and international treaties and agreements in limiting the degradation of air resources
- LO-7 Analyze air pollution source control technologies for particulate matter.
