This course is a study in realistic scenario-based learning, where students work in teams to practice developing sound business solutions. Student course work is designed to contribute solutions to senior leadership and local supervisors and to provide resources for the contracting career field via a course community-of-practice.

Current Syllabi

After successfully completing this course, students will fulfill the following Learning Objectives (LO):

LO-1 Define Acquisitions Management (within the DoD), and where management fits into the acquisition process

LO-2 Describe the major legislation acts that affect contracting and acquisitions

LO-3 Explain the concept of “Cost Estimating” within the acquisition community

LO-4 Explain important defense budget terms, such as Budget Authority, outlays, and obligations

LO-5 Define the concept of “Earned Value Analysis” within the acquisition community

LO-6 Describe the overall PPBE process to include the DoD’s Planning, Programming, and Budgeting System (PPBS)

LO-7 Describe the various types of procurement fraud and how to manage fraud.

LO-8 Describe the major sources of procurement standards and garner an understanding of the Procurement Integrity Act
