Active Duty Air Force Tuition Assistance

In order to obtain tuition assistance, please follow the steps below:

  1. You will need to first register for your course(s) at APUS through your APUS student campus. At the payment screen select ‘100 percent’ TA as your payment method.
  2. The Air Force utilizes the online system for requesting Air Force tuition assistance through the use of the Air Force Portal. You will apply for tuition assistance through the portal and it will be sent electronically to APUS for processing.

Six Easy Steps to Requesting your Air Force Tuition Assistance:

  1. Select Reason for your request --You need to select the best reason for why you would like to use Air Force Tuition Assistance.
  2. Select the School Name -- Select the school that you wish to attend (American Military University or American Public University—both headquarters are located in Charles Town, WV).
  3. Enter Term Dates -- Use your APUS registration confirmation in order to input the EXACT start and end dates for your term (Ex: October 6-November 30).
  4. Enter the Course Information -- Use your APUS registration confirmation in order to enter the information required for the course you wish to attend; course number, title, and number of semester hours. (Ex: COLL100: Foundations of Online Learning, 3 semester hours).
  5. Enter the Registration Fees --Undergraduate students (Associates, Bachelors, Undergraduate Certificate and Undergraduate Courses for Transfer) will input $250 per semester hour. Graduate students (Masters, Graduate Certificates and Graduate Courses for Transfer) will input $275 per semester hour for courses starting prior to April 2010. As of April 2010 course start dates, Graduate students (Masters, Graduate Certificates and Graduate Courses for Transfer) will input $300 per semester hour.
  6. Verify TA and Submit Request -- Your TA will come to us electronically for processing, within 2 business days after approval of education office.
