Spring Fashion for the Workplace Don’t lose your grasp on the career ladder because of a simple fashion faux pas!
Spring is upon us, and that means shorts, skirts, and cut-off shirts - but not in the workplace! It may be difficult to differentiate between what you can and cannot wear at work, especially when the warm weather starts rolling around. Follow these simple tips in order to maintain a comfortable yet professional persona in the workplace. - If you don’t feel it, don’t reveal it. Inspect your outfit in a full length mirror before you leave for work in the morning, and if you don’t feel comfortable with your outfit, change. When you look good, you feel good, and work is definitely a place where your confidence needs to be at its maximum.
- Have an open mind. Do not limit yourself to one particular store or brand name unless they are paying you to wear their clothes. You can find outstanding articles of clothing at various places from the thrift store to the major department stores. Shopping on a budget does not mean you don’t have the means to shop at high-end stores, it means that you are being sensible about your spending habits—and still looking great!
- Adopt a fashion mentor. Dressing well is a learned behavior. Choose people at the top of your field of interest who dress well and incorporate themes from their wardrobe into your own.
