The flexibility of this online undergraduate certificate allows adult learners with an interest in urban and regional planning to fit a quality education into their busy lives. The program provides students with an overview of the latest planning processes and technologies.
Students learn to assess the overall impact that development projects have on the surrounding environment and the quality of life for community inhabitants. Students are challenged to research and think critically to develop balanced solutions to complex planning issues. This foundational certificate program assesses resource needs such as energy, water resources, sustainability, and green space in the context of population usage, best practices, and regulatory compliance. Students are taught innovated planning strategies and management skills to address multiple stakeholder concerns and to shepherd projects to completion.
Classes are taught by practitioner instructors. Many have extensive leadership experience in urban planning and sustainable development. The curriculum is continuously assessed with guidance from industry advisory councils to ensure that students are receiving relevant information applied in the field today.
