The University is a highly respected leader in providing quality education to emergency management and public safety professionals. Industry professionals can earn their Bachelor of Arts in Emergency and Disaster Management entirely online, allowing them the opportunity to continue their professional duties while fitting career-relevant education into their busy lives.
Through this comprehensive program, learners are introduced to an all-hazards curriculum in addition to emergency and disaster management phases, risk assessment, prevention and management, counterterrorism, consequence management, mitigation, and recovery. American Public University System is accredited by the Foundation of Higher Education for Disaster and Emergency Management and Homeland Security. The University also works closely with industry advisory councils to ensure that students are exposed to the latest techniques and strategies based on information that’s coming in from actual missions. Students learn from and interact with expert professors. Many are leaders with frontline experience mitigating some of the largest and complex emergency and disaster management missions in the United States and overseas. Our emergency and disaster management community is tightknit, engaging, and highly supportive. Many students are actively involved with industry associations including the International Association of Emergency Managers, Masters of Disaster, Golden Key International Honour Society, and more. Students collaborate and stay connected as they continue to prepare to make a positive difference in the event of a new disaster.

2 A $50 Technology Fee will be charged for all future undergraduate and graduate level course registrations, including audited courses. The fee is not applicable for Comprehensive Exam courses. An APUS grant will cover the fee for Active Duty Military, Reservists, National Guard, Vocational Rehabilitation (VOCA), VA and VA Chapter 33 students, and anyone using military tuition assistance (TA).
