Since 9/11, nations around the world have faced critical challenges and new threats to their national security. In order to mitigate terror escalations and prepare for emerging dangers, many professionals in the intelligence and public safety communities are expanding their knowledge and skills through education. The University is proud to support their educational goals by providing the Graduate Certificate in Counter Terrorism Studies. This unique and industry-relevant certificate is offered entirely online.
Students have the flexibility to complete their education while they maintain their existing duties. In this program, students cover the fundamentals of counter terrorism methodologies and they learn to utilize predictive intelligence methods based on real-world practices. Students are taught to define the causes and effects of terrorism and how to interpret religious and political motivations that spark violent attacks. The program provides an overview of various terrorist groups, their histories, and their ultimate objectives. In addition, students learn analytical methods, predictive tools, and effective procedures on how best to deter or protect against potential threats. Courses are taught by expert faculty members. Many are foremost counter terrorism leaders who bring their unique experiences working in government agencies, military branches, and private security firms into the online classroom.
