Speaker Profiles
Wayne Odachowski
Graduate
M.A., Emergency and Disaster Management
The emergency and disaster management field demands highly-educated, professional individuals who are at the cutting edge of their skill set. Wayne, equipped with a Master's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Public University, took his career to the next level and launched his own company, Infinity Restoration. Wayne feels that the knowledge he has gained at APU established his superior credibility and has allowed him to understand the motivations of his customers to ultimately gain contracts in the wake of a large-scale event or disaster. Without the flexibility of his courses that enabled him to stay a devoted father of five children, Wayne believes that he wouldn't be where he is today. "If there wasn't an opportunity for online education, I probably would not have gotten a Master's degree."
Jennifer Deater
Student
B.A., Hospitality Management
When Jennifer began looking into schools, she needed options that allowed her to balance her family, career, and most of all - had to be affordable. For the past twenty years she has been trying to complete her degree, however, her work hours and raising three kids have made this an unsuccessful endeavor. Either classes were not offered at the needed times, or her children's schedules interfered. Despite the complications she had experienced in the past, Jennifer wanted to show her children the importance of obtaining a college degree. Jennifer determined that APU offered the best options: the degree that she wanted in Hospitality Management, flexible concentrated eight week courses, and an affordable tuition. Even with her trade school and local community college courses she had completed, Jennifer was able to easily transfer those credits into APU, starting off as a sophomore.
