Affordable Excellence
American Public University offers one of the most affordable options available for pursuing your education online. APU was founded on the concept that everyone with a desire for learning should be able to afford a quality education. Other schools charge two or three times as much in tuition and fees, but do not deliver the same quality as APU.At APU, you can earn a master’s degree for about $10,000 (total program tuition, not per year), which is less expensive than you’ll find most state schools. Our undergraduates pay only $750 per course (or approximately $31,000 for a bachelor’s degree). Other online schools charge nearly twice the tuition per credit, and each course they offer is 3-4 credits. Fees? APU minimizes fees that can add significantly to the cost of your degree, setting it apart from other schools that charge technology, application, or admissions fees. APU adds to student savings by providing all books at no cost to degree-seeking undergraduate students.
Additionally, APU accepts federal student aid and military tuition assistance.
We invite you to join a vibrant community of 70,000 students who have chosen APU to reach their education goals.

Student Spotlight
Kevin Ryan, M.A., Transportation and Logistics Management
Washington, D.C.
Kevin Ryan needed a more competitive edge in his career as a pilot in a shrinking job market. He loved his experience as a Boeing 737-800 Captain with ATA Airlines, but when the company went under Kevin transitioned over to the Department of Defense to work as a Management Analyst with a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) subordinate unit. When his wife's military transfer forced him to move, Kevin had to use his skill sets to acquire a new job. He believes that the combination of his Master's degree from the University and his military experience made him competitive enough to be selected from among 100 other candidates for a position with the US Army Manpower Analysis Agency (USAMAA). Still, his goal was to get back into the cockpit and he concurrently pursued a career with Atlas Air Cargo. Hired by Atlas in April 2010 as a First Officer in the Boeing 747-400, Kevin credits the University with giving him a competitive advantage in the hiring process. “I can't help but think that my M.A. had a hand in getting me back into the cockpit, as well,” says Ryan, “I'm back in aviation and working towards my goal of aviation/airline leadership.”
