Affordable Excellence
American Public University offers one of the most affordable options available for pursuing your education online. APU was founded on the concept that everyone with a desire for learning should be able to afford a quality education. Other schools charge two or three times as much in tuition and fees!At APU, you can earn a master’s degree for about $10,000 (total program tuition, not per year), which is less expensive than you’ll find most state schools. Our undergraduates pay only $750 per course (or approximately $31,000 for a bachelor’s degree). Other online schools charge nearly twice the tuition per credit! Fees? APU minimizes fees that can add significantly to the cost of your degree, setting it apart from other schools that charge technology, application, or admissions fees. APU adds to student savings by providing all books at no cost to degree-seeking undergraduate students through our Book Grant.
Additionally, APU accepts federal student aid and military tuition assistance.

Faculty Spotlight
Brian Blodgett
Program Director
Ph. D.: Northcentral University

Dr. Brian Blodgett is a graduate from APUS and has a MA in Military Studies - Land Warfare. He has taught for APUS since 2000; first as an adjunct and now as a full professor. He also has MS in Strategic Intelligence and PhD with a concentration in Homeland Security.
He joined the Ohio National Guard in 1981 and the regular Army in 1987 as an E-3, by 1996 he was an E-7. In 1996 he became a warrant officer and he retired from the military in 2006.
As a career soldier who earned both of his master’s degrees and finished over 80 percent of his PhD while on active duty, he understands the need to balance education, work, and family requirements (he has three children - two in college). Because he has a family (his wife, Melissa, teaches special education), he understands the issues that non-military members face each and every day.
Brian is also the Program Director for the Undergraduate History, Military History, and Military Studies classes and he teaches courses in all three disciplines in the program.
