APU Faculty Member: Sharie Adamson


Sharie Adamson has 26 years of experience as an educator. She has experience teaching reading and English as a second language courses in California and in Texas. Currently, she is a full-time faculty member with APUS and teaches College 100. Sharie enjoys working with first-year students and strives to guide her students to a positive experience as they learn more about reading and writing. Sharie earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Long Beach and a master's degree from California State University, Fullerton. She has completed her doctoral degree in education and curriculum/instruction, as well. Sharie has worked with the University of Texas at Austin related to reading research studies in the school environment.

Sharie and her husband have seven children (1 son and 6 daughters), and they live in Austin, Texas. They adopted three of their daughters from China over the past seven years. Advocating for special needs children is very important to their family. Sharie enjoys watching and reading historical documentaries, walking, and learning how to gain new talents such as gardening and visiting new historical places.
