Associate of Arts

The Associate of Arts in Retail Management provides the basic skills needed to effectively manage a variety of retail operations. This online associate degree will focus on interpersonal, managerial, human resource, leadership, communication, and the critical thinking skills necessary for success in the retail industry. Completion of this online degree helps prepare you for new retail positions or o advance intro retail store management with your current employer.

Program Courses

This program has been designed in consultation with industry business leaders and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

The curriculum for this online bachelor’s program is regularly reviewed by an advisory council of industry experts for relevancy to today’s marketplace. Course topics include:

  • Retail management principles and techniques
  • Principles of supervision
  • Customer relations strategies
  • Store organization and inventory management
  • Commercial safety policies and compliance regulations
  • Retail finance principles including pricing, markup, and goss profit
  • Supply chain and logistics, shipping and transpiration
  • Human resources and employee relations

Program Objectives

In addition to the institutional and degree level learning objectives, graduates of this program are expected to achieve these learning outcomes:

  • Examine the functions and applications of various management processes in the areas of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, leading, and controlling in Retail Management.
  • Use the needs of today’s retail managers in assessing and implementing strategies employed in the management of information technology, financial, and human resources in the workplace.
  • Analyze the impact of legal, social, political, economic, technological, and environmental issues in relation to organizational behavior.
  • Apply managerial concepts to strategic decisions impacting the effectiveness of retail managers in today’s competitive and global organizations.
  • Recognize the importance of ethical conduct, social responsibility, and corporate responsibility in the global environment.

Admission Requirements

  • All undergraduate programs require a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED).
  • New undergraduate students may be asked to complete our College Readiness Assessment (ADMN100). If you have successfully completed 9 or more hours of college credit, you may reach out to your admission representative to inquire about waiving this requirement.
  • If you have previous college experience, you will be asked to submit your transcripts from previous schools where you earned academic credit.

Ways to Save

Undergraduate Book Grant

Ebooks are provided at no cost if you are enrolled in undergraduate courses for credit. The undergraduate book grant is estimated to save $250 per academic semester if you are registered as a full-time student.

Transfer Credits

Accelerate your degree completion by taking full advantage of our transfer credit options, including credit for your previous college courses, military service schools, American Council on Education (ACE) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests, and prior learning experiences.  

Employer Contributions
