Professor George Davenport, while on active duty, earned a Master's degree in Astronomy from San Diego State University and a Master's degree in Management from Central Michigan University. He has taken additional graduate mathematics and physics courses at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He was commissioned and graduated on the same day from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in Physics. He also completed basic weather training at the University of Texas. Davenport is a retired Air Force weather officer. His Air Force career and subsequent employment with industry has focused on the space environment and space weather impacts on operational systems. Since 1980, he has taught physics, mathematics, management, astronomy, meteorology, space environment, and other science and engineering courses at various colleges and universities.
