Biography - Kay S Corriere


Kay Corriere was born in Jackson, Mississippi, into a military family. Her brother was a major in the US Air Force and her father a decorated soldier. He was a proud recipient of the Bronze Star in WWII while serving in the US Army Air Corps stationed in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea.

Her interests lay in nutrition and food service which led her to a career as a food service operator and a dietitian. In college she was the leader of the student home economics association and a member of Kappa Omicron Phi honor society. Ms. Corriere was a graduate fellow at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Home Economics in Nutrition, obtaining her Masters degree in Institutional Management and Dietetics with a Minor in Management.

Ms. Corriere has taught nutrition and food service courses at St. Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans, LA, and at Louisiana Technical University. In addition to sharing her love of food and nutrition with others, her varied professional experience includes college, school food service, long term care for the elderly, contract food service management, acute care, and foodservice distribution.

While in industry, she authored and was team leader of award winning educational programs in nutrition, light and healthy eating, and in three food service segment markets. She has mentored many students and young professionals who have achieved much in their careers. Professionally,she is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the International Food Service Executives Association. She has served as the Chair of Dietitians in Business, a Practice Group of the ADA and is currently still a member. She is also a member of the following DPGs: Food, Culinary Professionals, Consulting Dietitians in Healthcare Facilities and its sub-practice group Dietitians in Correctional Facilities.

She is also Vice President of Integrated Micro Solutions, Inc., (IMS) a nutritionally based software food service company that serves the market with client/server applications and web based solutions. Clients using this software include the US Army Reserve with teaming partner General Dynamics-IT and numerous corporate clients. These include assisted living, healthcare and the food service distribution industry. Ms. Corriere was instrumental in authoring the case study which led to the awarding of Nations Restaurant News FSTEC Innovator of the Year On-Site Category 2002 for FSMS (Food Service Management System) for the US Army Reserve.

Ms. Corriere’s newest venture is as the Project Director for the Iowa Healthy Links Grant awarded to the State of Iowa, Department of Elder Affairs, by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Aging which promotes healthy lifestyles among persons with chronic diseases who desire to live fuller active lives.

Personal interests include gourmet cooking, breeding and showing champion Airedale Terriers, gardening, baseball, competitive sports, and community service.
