Biography - Steven J Ramold


Steven J. Ramold holds a B.S. from Wayne State College, an M.A. from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a specialization in Nineteenth Century American History and Military History. He is the author of Slaves, Sailors, Citizens-African Americans in the Union Navy (Northern Illinois University Press, 2002), and Baring the Iron Hand-Discipline in the Union Army (Northern Illinois University Press, 2009). After teaching at the University of Nebraska, Doane College, and Virginia State University, Professor Ramold is currently Associate Professor of American History at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
