Professor Miller completed her Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Spanish from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and received her MA in English and American Studies at the University of Virginia. Her multimedia thesis examined how the film Fight Club situates itself within a postmodern paradigm. Professor Miller's educational background includes courses in Feminist Theory, Literary Theory, African-Caribbean Literature, 19th century American Literature, English Renaissance Drama, British Literature, Contemporary Latin American Prose, and Identity Politics in Latin American Literature. Her academic interests include women's literature and feminist theory, Caribbean and Latino literature, American literature and culture, popular culture, and postmodern theory. Completing an MA program that promotes the educational use of new technologies, Professor Miller has created and published academic web sites on P.T. Barnum and Georgia O'Keeffe and is committed to utilizing the Internet to enhance students’ educational experience.
Professor Miller has significant technical training, having served as both a Project Manager for the University of Virginia’s American Studies website, Xroads, and working as a Researcher for the American Studies Website Database. Professor Miller served as the APUS Department Chair for Liberal Arts in 2003. Her professional experience in higher education began as an admissions counselor for Vanderbilt University and continued at Georgetown University. Professor Miller most recently served as the Director of College Counseling at Brophy College Preparatory School in Phoenix, AZ. She and her husband, Major Matt Miller, recently relocated to Milwaukee, WI.
