Biography - Robert D Jaffin

Robert D. Jaffin teaches for American Public University System and served as a department chair from June 2002 until November of 2005. From 2002 until 2004 he provided on site Hazmat Awareness training at multiple locations to over 600 Reserve POL drivers. Currently he is actively engaged with the National Sheriff’s Association on Hazmat and WMD issues, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance/COHMED on Hazmat and transportation Security issues. He is Committee chair for the Exercise Planning Committee of the Jefferson County West Virginia LEPC, does Hazmat Awareness training for the county CERT program and the Sheriff’s office and serves as member of the county counter-terrorism committee. In addition he has had a number of articles published this past year, has presented at conferences and done manuscript reviews for McGraw Hill and Wiley amongst others. In 2001 he was a panelist at the International Air Transportation Associations’ Dangerous Goods Conference held in Atlanta, and a panelist at the NDTA European Forum held in Stuttgart. Bob also was selected to develop the Hazmat module for the Institute of International Transportation & Logistics’ Professional Certification Program in Transportation and Logistics Management. Bob has presented at the US ARMY RESERVE COMMAND (USARC) Logistics Conference, US FORCES COMMAND Centralized HM and HW Management Workshop and delivered Hazmat Awareness courses for the Alaska Army National Guard Blackhawk and Sherpa aircrews. Prior to his appointment he spent 9 years with the Navy Transportation Management School/Navy Supply Corps School acting as the navy senior Hazmat Transportation instructor developer from 1996 until his departure from government service in 2000.
