Biography - Constance Bracewell

Constance Bracewell is a native of North Carolina, but also calls Tucson, Arizona home. She holds a master’s degree in English from Appalachian State University and is currently a doctoral candidate and Diversity Fellow with the University of Arizona. Her dissertation, titled Literary Removal and Repatriation: Diaspora and American Indian Literatures, is to be published through Edwin Mellon Press. She specializes in American Indian literature, diaspora studies, ethnic American literature, and the general American literature canon, and she teaches in all of these areas, as well as the related area of composition studies.

Her teaching experience includes seated courses at The University of Arizona, Appalachian State University, Pfeiffer University, and Lenoir-Rhyne University. Her online teaching portfolio includes courses in English composition, American literature, British Literature, and World Literature, with American Public University System, Grand Canyon University, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Southern New Hampshire University, and Mountain State University. She also serves as a member of the Distance Education Advisory Council with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

Prof. Bracewell believes that the quality of the learning experience derives primarily not from the software, but from the willingness and enthusiasm of the instructor to be readily, amply available to online learners and vested in helping them find motivation and interest in furthering, enriching, and defining their own paths to education. Her instructional motto is: If teachers care – students care!

She is excited to see the vibrant online degree options available for students at APUS. As part of an Air Force family herself, she is particularly honored by the opportunity to offer educational opportunities for American service members as a part of the APUS family and hopes to help all of her students--military and civilian alike--discover new strengths and new tools for success in the wonderfully supportive learning environment here at APUS.
