Carly Furry earned her BA in English from California State University, Long Beach and her MFA in Writing from Pacific University in Oregon. In addition to teaching at APUS, Carly also teaches English composition, creative writing, and several education courses at College of the Siskiyous in northern California where she also coordinates the campus learning center. Carly is the recipient of a Caldera Arts Writer’s Residency, the Pacific University Prose Award, and is a Long Beach State President’s Scholar. She has published works of short fiction, served as the creator and editor of The Bear Trail Journal, a journal of literary endeavors by college students, and has served as a board member for her local writers series. When she’s not teaching or writing, Carly can be found hiking, rafting, or snowboarding through northern California and throughout the west, but she ranks working with students and helping them reach their educational goals right up there with the most exciting of outdoor pursuits.
