Biography - Lisa Gerardy


Lisa Gerardy has 14 years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and went on to earn her Master’s degree, also in English, at Fort Hays State University in Fort Hays, Kansas. Ms. Gerardy is currently an English Literature instructor at American Public University. Before joining the faculty at APUS, Ms. Gerardy taught a variety of K-12 and college-level English, literature and creative writing courses. She has also coordinated tutoring programs at on-ground and online universities in addition to serving as chair of the Composition Department at an online university.

When she is not teaching, Ms. Gerardy enjoys presenting at academic conferences. Ms. Gerardy has made a great deal of presentations throughout her career, and, most recently, she presented on faculty mentoring programs at the Ed-Media Conference in Toronto, Canada in 2010.

Ms. Gerardy enjoys spending time with her family, baking and writing in her spare time. She recently completed a young adult novel and she hopes to publish is soon. Ms. Gerardy is also a contributing author to the Kaplan University Handbook for Writers (2008).
