Dr. Bryant enlisted in the United States Marine Corps out of Miami, Florida in July 1994 and entered recruit training on 26 June 1995 at 4th Battalion, Oscar Company, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation as a Private First Class, Dr. Bryant attended Communications Center Training Course at 29 Palms, California. Upon graduating Communications School, Dr. Bryant reported to Headquarters Battalion, Communications Company in Camp Lejeune, NC. During this time Dr. Bryant attended the Small Computer Specialist Course in Quantico, Virginia. In January 1998, Dr. Bryant reported to Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina for duty as an MCT Instructor. Dr. Bryant received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Beaufort, South Carolina in June of 2001 where she served as the Data Chief. In April 2004 Dr. Bryant was then assigned to Marine Corps Communication Electronics Schools, 29 Palms to serve as an instructor for the Noncommissioned Officers and Staff Noncommissioned Officer Courses.
In March 2007, Dr. Bryant received orders to 1st Marine Division, where she served as the G-6 Data Chief. As an augment to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Dr. Bryant deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2008 to February 2009 as the Information Technology and Data Chief. In February 2009, Dr. Bryant returned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division and volunteered to be the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters Battalion, Communications Company. Dr. Bryant currently serve as a Faculty Advisor at the Staff Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Advance Course, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Dr. Bryant is a graduate of Career Course, Advance Course, Formal Instructors School, Curriculum Developer’s Course, UNIX Systems Administrator Course, and Data Chief Course.
In July 2004 as a lifelong learner, Dr. Bryant began pursuing her off duty education. In 2005 she earned an Associates of Science in Computer Science and an Associates of Science in Administration of Justice from Barstow Community College. In 2006 she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Criminal Justice with a concentration on Homeland Security and a Master’s of Arts in Criminal Justice from American Military University. In 2009 she earned a Masters in Public Policy Administration from Walden University. Finally, in 2010 she earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy Administration with a concentration on Homeland Security from Walden University.
Along with continuing to serve this great nation in the Marine Corps and teaching at AMU, Dr. Bryant currently teaches Criminal Justice at Campbell University and Criminal Justice at Bethel University. She is married to Dwayne A. Bryant, also a Marine, and they are stationed in Jacksonville, NC.
