Biography - William N Barnes


Wm. Nelson Barnes is an Assistant District Attorney for Bell County, Texas. Nelson has been a prosecutor since 1991. He has prosecuted felony cases since 1994 for the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, primarily in the areas of organized crime, violent crime and gangs, after having served as an Assistant Bell County Attorney in the misdemeanor section and as Chief of the Juvenile Division. In 2003, Nelson was honored as the gang prosecutor of the year by the Texas Gang Investigators Association. In 2006-2007 Nelson worked as an Executive Mentor for the State Department with the Afghanistan Ministry of Interior in the area of police/prosecution reform in Kabul, Afghanistan. Nelson has been teaching live and online since 1997. When not busy with his day job, teaching, and coaching kid’s soccer, he is a referee for high school, college and semi-pro football. With what time is left he likes to root for The Trinity Tigers (B.A. 1988) and the Baylor Bears (J.D. 1991).
