Glaucio Scremin is an adjunct faculty member in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Sports Management. His teaching interests include sport marketing, sport marketing research, research methods in sport management, sport law and ethics, and sport global sport issues.
Dr. Scremin pursues active line of research in sport management. His research interests are in the areas of sport consumer behavior with an emphasis on sport fan identity, athletic administration, and international sport events such as the soccer World Cup and the Olympics.
Dr. Scremin is a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Like most Brazilians he is an avid soccer fan. He is excited about the upcoming global sporting events to take in Brazil – the men’s soccer World Cup in 2014 and then the Rio summer Olympics in 2016.
His experience as a player with the three time world club champion Sao Paulo Futebol Clube led to a scholarship with a NCAA Division II university in the United States.
Dr. Scremin holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Sports Studies and a Doctor of Education in Sports Management both from the United States Sports Academy. In addition, Dr. Scremin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Health and Fitness Instructor by the American College of Sport Medicine.
Dr. Scremin’s teaching philosophy is based on the premise that, as an instructor, he serves the role of a learning facilitator. He takes a learning-centered approach to his teaching methods and strategies. In his role as a learning facilitator, he always has his student’s learning needs in mind. He serves to satisfy student’s learning needs by first identifying what they are and second by developing a teaching plan to give students the best changes to learn. His approach to teaching is grounded on his APICE (it means PEAK in Italian) learning principles.

Dr. Scremin has over 8 years of experience as a sport management educator, personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, and sport management consultant. He worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach, where he helped clients and athletes achieve their health and fitness goals. He currently consults in the areas of strategic planning, sport marketing, and research with national and international sport organizations.
Dr. Scremin has been married for five years. He resides in Alabama. He enjoys travelling with his wife and staying in good physical shape by running, playing sports, and lifting weights. He still plays soccer on local recreation leagues but after a broken leg last year he has decided to take on another sport. He became a devoted tennis player and is currently trying to move up to a 4.0 United States Tennis Association (USTA) rating level. He works on his tennis game by playing in local and regional USTA tournaments.
