Dan Opstal is an adjunct faculty member at the American Military University as well as a Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) analyst and portfolio manager for the Department of Defense. He holds an MBA from the Pennsylvania State University, an MS in Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College and a BA in International Studies and Russian Language from Emory University.
Dan has had a variety of operations and acquisition assignments in the Intelligence Community (IC). As a watch officer, he provided near real-time combat intelligence support to several operations, including SOUTHERN WATCH, NORTHERN WATCH, IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM. He has supported domestic crisis events as well as GEOINT training requirements worldwide. Dan has worked with the ArcGIS, Google Earth and FalconView Geographic Information Systems. In 2007, Dan was nominated for a Director of National Intelligence Excellence in Education and Training Award. He has presented at diverse fora, including the Georgia Tech Research Institute and the National Intelligence University.
Dan speaks Dutch, German and some Russian language and qualified as an Air Force Foreign Area Officer.
