Biography - Lisa R Pannone


Adjunct Professor Lisa R. Pannone received her B.A. in philosophy at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California in 1992 and her juris doctor degree from Valparaiso University School of Law, Indiana in 1996. She is admitted to practice law in the state of Ohio and Washington.

Upon completion of law school, Professor Pannone served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocates Corps and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While at Fort Bragg, Professor Pannone served as a legal assistance attorney and prosecutor for the 82nd Airborne’s Division Support Command (DISCOM).

Professor Pannone continued her service at Fort Lewis, Washington where she served as a Trial Defense Attorney. She successfully represented soldiers at courts martial including child abuse, grand theft, and rape. While at Fort Lewis, Professor Pannone was also assigned to lead the Army Claims department and the office of International and Operational Law.

Upon completion of her Army service in 2003, Professor Pannone accepted a position as staff attorney for the Washington State Department of Health in Olympia, Washington. As a staff attorney, Professor Pannone represented the state of Washington in taking adverse administrative action against various health care providers to include doctors, nurses, dentists and chiropractors. In many cases, Professor Pannone worked to suspend the health care licenses of practitioners who presented a danger to the community to include sexual abuse of patients, drug use while treating patients, and extreme patient negligence.

In late 2006, Professor Pannone moved to Tucson, Arizona and accepted a position as a trial attorney for the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As an ICE attorney, Professor Pannone represented the government in removing/deporting thousands of legal and illegal immigrants. She gained extensive trial and appellate writing experience in this position. She remained in this position until early 2010.

Professor Pannone lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and daughter. She enjoys cycling, scuba diving and hiking in the beautiful Sonoran desert.
