Biography - Joan M Burke


Joan Burke has taught college English, communication, and humanities courses for more than 25 years. She holds a Master of Arts in English from Villanova University, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts in English from Hope College. She has done advanced graduate study in English and graduate work in education, and she recently earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Thomas Edison State College and a Graduate Certificate in General Administration with a focus in organizational communication from Central Michigan University.

In addition to college teaching, her professional experience includes being a writer, editor, and public relations specialist.

Joan's particular areas of interest are early English and early American literature; nineteenth century British and American literature; detective fiction; short fiction; and poetry. She also enjoys examining the evolution of the public relations field.

Joan lives in Southern New Jersey with her husband, daughter, and cats. A former 4-Her and 4-H leader, Joan continues volunteering for 4-H as a judge of presentations and projects. In her limited spare time, she enjoys sewing and crafting.
