Charlie Venuto holds a EdS in Science Education and a MS in Environmental Science from The Florida Institute of Technology. He also earned a MS in Environmental Policy from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. His BA is in Biology from Buffalo State College.
Charlie is an Environmental Specialist for Siemens Wind Power. He has corporate responsibility for creating and implementing environmental programs at the factories where the turbine blades and nacelles are produced as well as the wind turbine project sites. Prior to taking this position he was the Environmental Manager at the Kennedy Space Center for the contractor who operated, maintained, and prepared the space shuttle. He worked as an environmental professional for the shuttle program for more than 30 years. His department was responsible for developing policy and procedures for environmental compliance programs. These programs include the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, Registered Petroleum Storage Tanks, Affirmative (Green) Procurement, the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act and the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Program.
Mr. Venuto teaches several courses in the APUS Environmental Sciences Program He has also taught Environmental Science and Biology at Brevard Community College. He has served as a board member for several nature based organizations including past president of the Space Coast Audubon Society and is currently on the board for the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge Association and the Friends of Ulumay Nature Preserve. Charlie enjoys nature watching, reading, jogging and spending time with his family.
