I bring you greetings from Southwest Louisiana!
My name is Kathy Lewis-Jackson. I am a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana. I am proud to be a faculty member with APUS. Along with teaching for APUS, I also teach elementary school for my local school district.
Prior to teaching, I was a law enforcement officer for nine years. Although I had a genuine passion for law enforcement, I decided to make a career change that would be beneficial to my family and to the children of my community, and I must admit that I am pleased with my decision.
I am currently working on my Doctorate's degree in Educational Leadership. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching; a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, as well as a Bachelor of Science and an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice. I also have a Diploma in Forensic Science. I graduated from the 64th Basic Police Academy at the Calcasieu Regional Law Enforcement Academy in Lake Charles, LA. I am a Notary Public in and for the State of Louisiana. I am a certified grants writer. Lastly, I do small printing from my home office.
I have been blessed with some great people in my life, and for that I am very thankful. I have a wonderful companion, Stevens, who is an Electrical Contractor.
I am the mother of two beautiful daughters. My oldest daughter, Meagan, is 18 and a first-time college student. She is a biology/chemistry major. Her desire is to be a trauma surgeon. My youngest daughter, Morgan, is 16. She is a junior in high school. She aspires to be a pediatric oncologist.
I strive to be the very best that I can in all that I do, and I expect the same from the students that I teach. After all, it takes hard work and determination to succeed in life. "Anything that is worth having is worth working VERY HARD for."
