Wayne MacKenzie is a Meteorologist at Earth Resources Technology, Inc. working within the Center for Satellite Applications and Research at the NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service. His primary job is working with algorithm development for the new Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-R), which is currently under development.
Before working at Earth Resources Technology, Inc., Wayne was a Research Associate at the University of Alabama in Huntsville where we was a co-Investigator and co-Principle Investigator on developing a satellite algorithm to monitor clouds for future storm development. He worked and collaborated with scientists from around the US and in Europe. While at UAH, he also worked at WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL as the weekend meteorologist covering many tornado and severe weather events and filling in as needed during the week.
Wayne was also an Adjunct Instructor of Physical Science at Northeast Alabama Community College where he taught Introduction to Physical Science and developed and taught an Introduction to Meteorology course.
Wayne is an active member of the American Meteorological Society, and National Weather Association. He is a member of the National Weather Association Remote Sensing Committee where he will become chair of the committee beginning in January 2012.
Wayne has a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
Wayne lives in Baltimore, MD.
