Biography - Paul E Kahan


Dr. Kahan is a historian and author specializing in the history of American corrections, the history of American education, and the history of American diplomacy. He is best known for his book "Eastern State Penitentiary, A History" (History Press, 2008), the only comprehensive history of this famous prison currently in print. In March of 2012, Dr. Kahan published "Seminary of Virtue: The Ideology and Practice of Inmate Reform at Eastern State Penitentiary, 1829-1971" (Peter Lang, 2012). Currently, he is working on a narrative history of the Homestead Strike which will be published by Routledge in 2013. Dr. Kahan has been a featured guest on a number of television programs, including PABooks and American Paranormal. A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Kahan now lives in Sacramento, CA.
