Biography - Shanda HB Easterday


Shanda Blue Easterday earned her PhD in English/Creative Writing, MFA in English/Creative Writing, and BA in English and Women's Studies degrees at Western Michigan University. She has taught courses in British and American Literature, African American Literature and Native American Literature, as well as creative writing and college research writing courses. Her poems have been published in various academic journals. Dr. Easterday is editor for Mind Vine Press which produces educational materials for advanced primary school students. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran School Board.

During her MFA program Dr. Easterday was taken into Phi Beta Kappa, a national honor society. She graduated magna cum laude with her BA degree from Lee Honors College of WMU. She maintains memberships in the Modern Language Association, Associated Writing Programs and Phi Beta Kappa.

In addition to writing poetry and printing her photos for a local art gallery, Dr. Easterday keeps up with her husband, five children and four (soon to be five) grandchildren.
