Doris Morales-Shepherd was born in El Salvador, Central America. As a teenager, she moved to the United States and lived in El Paso, Texas where she attended the University of Texas at El Paso. After six years in the U.S., she moved back to El Salvador where she continued her college education while working for USAID (United States Agency for International Development,) and the United States Embassy. She received a B.S. in Communications Science from Universidad Dr. Jose Matias Delgado. She then moved to the U.S., and received extensive training in legal interpretation from the Texas and Florida Judicial Circuit Courts. She worked as an interpreter and translator in Miami, Florida, doing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation. She received her M.A. in Second Language Acquisition and Application from the University of Maryland, College Park (concentrating in the Spanish language). She has taught online and face to face Spanish and Communication courses at the College of Southern Maryland for the last four years. She is also an online Communications Instructor at the University of Maryland University College-UMUC. She is passionate about teaching the Spanish language and culture. She currently lives in Southern Maryland with her 6 year-old son.
