Biography - Odessa K Chavous


Odessa is a native of South Carolina but moved to Denver, Colorado as a teenager where she lived for 25 years.
A colege teacher since 1988, she has taught extensively at various colleges and universities with a speical teaching and research interest in social stratification, social theory, social change, cultural studies, social movements, and community leadership. She hols a BA degree in Interdisciplanary Studies with a mimor in Ethnic Studies, a Master of Social Sciences degree with an emphasis in community development, a Master of Arts degree in Sociology, and will receive the Ph.D degree in Leadership and Innovation from the University of Colorado in August 2011.
Her hobbies include collecting and restoring old art, visiting museums and cultural centers. She is an avid community volunteer, and also enjoys mentoring young women. She and her husband live on a farm in South Carolina.
