Paula L. Wylie, PhD
Program Director for International Relations

Dr. Wylie has been teaching international relations and history subjects for over 16 years in Ireland, North Carolina, and Maryland after receiving her MA in International Relations from Boston University. She received her PhD from the National University of Ireland, University College Cork.

Her primary teaching and research interests include European integration, comparative foreign policy, and international law. Dr. Wylie has published in the field of Irish foreign policy, including Ireland and the Cold War, Diplomacy and Recognition, 1949-63 (Dublin, 2006). Recently, she authored two courses for online distribution in the subjects of diplomatic history and comparative politics.

A native of Texas, Dr. Wylie lived 10 years in Europe during the 1980s and 1990s in England, Germany, and Ireland. After teaching in the classroom beginning in 1995, she began teaching online in subjects within her research interests in 2006. Joining the APUS faculty in 2010, Dr. Wylie currently lives in Charleston, South Carolina where she and her husband enjoy outdoor activities and travel.
