Bethanie L. Hansen teaches music and English. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Music from Brigham Young University, a Master of Science in Arts and Letters from Southern Oregon University, and Doctoral work at Boston University. Bethanie is currently ABD at Boston, working on a dissertation to research the experiences of students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in junior high school bands with expected completion in September, 2012.
Bethanie is full-time instructor at American Public University. Her philosophy of music education is that music is a special way of thinking and knowing that cannot be replaced by any other means of communicating or learning; music enriches us and is worth learning for its own sake. As a writer, Bethanie has published instructional materials for educators and is currently writing about music history and appreciation.
