Biography - James Binns


James  Binns

James T. Binns is an adjunct faculty member in the Sport Management program. His teaching interests include areas such as sport finance, leadership in sports, and college sports.

James is currently an Active Duty Major in the Air Force stationed at the United States Air Force Academy where he is the Director of Logistics for the Athletic Department. He has been in the Air Force for almost 14 years and has traveled the world for various assignments. His primary Air Force career has been logistics but he has spent 5 years at the Academy in the Athletic Department working various jobs.
James holds a Bachelor of Science in History from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Science in Management from Troy State University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy with an emphasis in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. His dissertation analyzed the effective use of Performance Base Funding by the United States Olympic Committee. His research interests include financial management of college sport and various topics related to the Olympic Committee.

James has been married for 13 years and had the great fortune of having three wonderful daughters. James enjoys participating and watching sports as well as spending time with his family.
