Biography - Lisa M Richard


Professor (Capt) Lisa M. Richard is an active duty United States Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG). Since joining the Air Force in 2003, Capt Richard has been assigned to Ellsworth AFB, SD; RAF Mildenhall, UK; FOB Shield, Iraq and currently, McConnell AFB, KS where she is the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate.

Capt Richard’s hometown is New York, NY. She attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1995. She continued at Northeastern University earning a Master of Science in Criminal Justice in 1996. She entered law school in 1996 at New York Law School. During law school Capt Richard interned at the Corporation Counsel’s office in Manhattan where juveniles were prosecuted for criminal offenses. She worked in the New York County District Attorney’s Office drafting misdemeanor complaints against adult defendants. She also was a clerk for The Honorable Ronald A. Zweibel in Manhattan Supreme Court Criminal part. In 1999 she earned a Juris Doctorate from New York Law School.

After completing law school Capt Richard became an Assistant Corporation Counsel assigned to Kings County, Brooklyn, NY prosecuting juveniles for criminal offenses. In 2001 Capt Richard moved to Florida where she became an Instructor in the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies department of the University of Central Florida. Also at that time she was a part time senior attorney for the Hillsborough County Public Defender providing case analysis and attorney training in the juvenile division.

Capt Richard is licensed to practice law in New York and Florida. She lives with her husband Ian, son Liam and dog (Beagle) Duncan. Her interests include travel, pottery and playing with my son, husband and dog.
