HELLO!
My name is Jim Harrison. I've an M.A. in History from Portland State University. My concentration is in History of US Constitutional Law and European Intellectual History. I was senior research analyst for the International Trade Institute in Portland and worked as a country risk analysis for Fortune 500 firms around the world. Currently here at APUS I am teaching:
Currently teaching HIST102, HIST111, HIST121, HIST122 and HIST303.
On a personal front I love the Pacific Northwest. Over the past 30 years I have spent a good deal of time traveling through Indian Country. While not Native myself a large portion of my immediate extended family is. During those decades I've been directly involved in four Sundances and countless other ceremonies. Not surprisingly much of my continued work/studies is in Indian tribal law.
I have three wonderful children which I've raised on my own. I am now a proud grandfather to an amazing grandson!
Hobbies include chess, books (of course) going to good jazz and blues clubs around town, getting out into the mountains when I can and living life to the fullest. Having played college football you no doubt know where you will find me in the Fall. Having been N. California all-league in baseball for four years causes me a severe headache come Sept/Oct., as you sports fans can imagine. Why some may ask? Because I don't have picture-in-picture on my TV in my study!!! (I should just take the thing out!)
I am serious about making the world a better place for my children and now my grandson. To that end I work toward justice, unity, and peace wherever and however I can.
I am currently working a senior story editor/scriptwriter for Castle Builders Entertainment. We are extremely close (as of August 2011) to selling our first television show! We'll see. Been at this for awhile now. But I swear I'll scream like a little girl when they ask me who to make the check out to.
